In 1946, the American-Scandinavian Foundation was involved with Crown Princess Märtha of Norway in a humanitarian effort, likely related to her post-war activities supporting Norwegian interests and her exile in the United States during World War II. She was a prominent figure who, with President Roosevelt’s help, secured a transatlantic ship in 1940 to flee to America with her children. During her time in the U.S., she was a popular and active advocate for Norway, earning the title «Mother of the Nation» upon her return in 1945.
